Emir Urges Muslims to Obey Constituted Authorities

The Emir of Lafia, Dr. Isa Mustapha, has called on Muslims in the state to always obey constituted authorities in accordance with Islamic tenets.

This was contained in a statement issued in Lafia Nasarawa State capital by Mallam Yusuf Kaki, information officer of Lafia Local Government, on behalf of the emir to mark Eid-el-Kabir. "

It is only when the right atmosphere is created for those saddled with the onerous responsibility of governance that they can attract development to their respective domains,'' the emir said.

He cautioned the youth against being used as "political thugs'' to foment trouble and urged them to get involved in vocational skills for self-reliance. The traditional ruler, however, appealed to the three tiers of government to address the problem of unemployment and its attendant social problems.

He condemned the lukewarm attitude of many people toward farming and called on those concerned to have a change of heart to enable the country regain its position as a leading exporter of agricultural produce.

To this end, the emir urged the government to ensure unhindered access by farmers to modern farming tools and fertiliser, pointing out that bureaucracy often constituted a bottleneck to them.
