NCP Aspirant Promises Reforms in Ogun By Wale Olaleye
A governorship candidate in Ogun State on the platform of the National Conscience Party (NCP), a party foun-ded by Chief Gani Fawehinmi, a Lagos laweyer and rights activist, Ogbeni Lanre Banjo has promised the people of the state an Airport and Seaport respectively if he was voted into power.
Banjo who spoke in Sagamu recently said the people of the state deserve more than what they are getting from the present administration of Chief Olusegun Osoba if the federal government's allocation is anything to go by. Banjo who just returned home from Washington DC, USA where he is based acknowledged that the political class in the country is capitalising on the level of poverty in the country to hoodwink and disregard the populace. He therefore assured that his government will resuscitate the middle class that would see an end to the suffering of the masses. He told the gathering he had begun to work seriously for the government and that most of his links and aid would come from America. Already, he told them he had begun to discuss with so many companies on possibilities of working out partnership on the development of the state. Specifically, he spoke extensively on the issue of electricity which has become a menace to the industries. For that, an arrangement has already been put in place. On the issue of telecommunication, Banjo pro-mised a resounding telephony system for the people of the state. He also discussed the issue of insecurity in the country, one which he said was largely informed by the alarming level of unemployment in the country. While he would tackle employment on the one hand, he promised to motivate and ensure an effective police for the state. He said though, he may not offer money as many would have expected, however prom-ised that the people would not regret having to cast their votes in his support. He maintained that money politics is what has led the country thus far and that if the people could vote conscience in place of money, then they will be better for it. |
