15 Policemen Dismissed

Ogun State Police Command has dismissed 15 policemen and announced the arrest of 17 others over their alleged involvement in the extortion of money from motorists at various check points across the state.

Addressing a press conference in Abeokuta yesterday on the activities of his command, the state police commissioner, Mr. Israel Ajao, said the dismissed policemen were those arrested by the command in June this year.

According to the police boss, the victims were eventually dismissed having being found guilty of the offence levelled against them, and of which they have no proof against their conviction.

He explained that the action of the command was in consonance with the stand of the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Tafa Balogun, against corruption in the Nigeria Police Force.

Those arrested include F/No 188096 Cpl Ajagbe Adeola; Kolawole Idowu F/No 193336 Cpl; Austine Aduji F/No 179941 Cpi and Mohammed Dudu F/No 157659PC.

Others were Oladipupo Faulkner F/No 131091 Sgt; Onokhojie Monday F/No 366552 Pc; Danjumah Ada F/No 367478 Pc, Fagbemigbe Adeko-la Pc: Inspector Omoware Ola and Gamba Ganiyu F/No 171051 Cpi.

The rest are Onosefe Festus F/No 360939 Pc; Bright Ikide F/No. 363990 Pc; Iranse Moses F/No 149853 Sgt; Paul Otu F/No 161198 Cpi; Aileku Agosokos F/No 185836 Cpi; Ogundele Moses F/No 202735 cpi and Ahmed Agemo F/No 173943 cpi.

On the latest efforts of the command, Ajao explained that the 17 policemen currently in police custody were arrested by the Commissioner of Police Anti-corruption Monitoring Unit on a routine check on police officers in the various black spots within the command.
