Ahmadiyya World Leader Visits West Africa
The Khalifatul Masih V, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamsat World wide, will round off his one month tour of West African countries during this Easter holidays.
The tour, coming on the invitation of the governments of Ghana, Republic of Benin, and Burkina Faso, will be rounded off with a stop over in Nigeria on his way back to London. In Ghana, Maulvi Wahab Adams, the Amir, head of Ahmadiyya Muslim Comm-unity in that country and member, Ghana Reconciliation Committee, along with other Muslim faithful, received the head of Ahmadiyya Jamsat Worldwide at the airport and later, the Ghanaian President, John Kuffour, at the State House. He later attended the Jalsa Salana annual gathering of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat in Ghana and led a Jumat prayer, where he prayed for peace and tranquillity in the country. The Amir-ul Muminin schedule took him to some parts of Ghana, where Ahmadiyya Muslim Jammat schools, hospitals and Mosques, were located. The visits to the institutions afforded him the unique opportunity to assess the progress of the Jamaet, note the shortcomings and areas the headquarters could assist. In utter demonstration of these, the Huzur, during his visit to one of the Ahmadiyya Schools, donated some computers and other educational instructional materials. Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih V, (A.T.B.A), before his election as the Supreme head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, worked as a Missionary in Ghana. He would be fondly remembered as the first Agric-Economist, who successfully introduced and planted wheat in Ghana. In memory of this great contribution to the growth of agriculture in Ghana, Khalifatul Masih V visited the Ahmadiyya Agricultural farm in that country. His visit to Talim lslam Secondary School, Ekomfi Essarkyiou, where he served as a School Principal, was highly remarkable. While inspecting a guard of honour mounted by staff and pupils at the school, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V, remembered with nostalgia his days as a school Principal, smiling all through as students waved their white handkerchiefs in acknowledgment of his greetings. While in Burkina Faso and Republic of Benin, the Khalifah had audience with members of the Jamaat and Muslims and inspected mosques, health and educational institutions built by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at One striking feature of the visit to Burkina Faso was the fact that the Friday sermons of the Amirul Mominee was relayed live by the Ahmadiyya Radio Station in the country to Muslim faithfuls all over the world via satellite audio link to the Muslim Television Ahmadiyya, London. In his sermon at Bobo Diassou Mosque, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, announced that the Ahmadiyya Radio Station, first of its kind in the world, will Insha increase its broadcast hour from 13-14 hours daily, to 17 hours once the necessary approval has been given by the government. He noted that the impact of the radio broadcast has been tremendous among the populace in Bobo Diassou, a city with large concentration of Muslims. He particularly noted its broadcast of the true message of Islam as enunciated by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Consequently, he admonishes every Muslims to demonstrate true Islamic teachings in their behaviours. Stressing the importance of education, Huzur said every child must acquire education, saying: "It is a right not a privilege". The Jama'at in that regard, he said, would be ready to assist indigent parents. And while addressing the annual Jalsa Salana in Burkina Faso, Huzur called on all Muslims to be united and hold on to the practices and tenets of Islam. During his stop over in Nigeria, Hazrat Masroor Ahmad is expected to address Ahmadis and Nigerian Muslims. He will also assess the level of progress of the Nigerian Jammat, open the ultra modern mosque at the Ahmadiyya headquarters, and visit Ahmadiyya hospitals in Ojokoro and Apapa, both in Lagos. |
