07.18.2009COMMENTS07.19.2009 03:43 Capt Ben is speaking with the two side of his mouth. On one hand, he blames the sitting Gov. for allowing the state security to deteriorate as the \"Chief Security Officer\". On the other hand, he said that Anambra State is a territory of the Fed Rep of Nig. and that the FGN reserves a right to declare a State of Emergency in the state. So the question is: Under our constitution, is the Nigeria Police a state police or a federal Police. If it is a federal police, then it follows that the federal govt. has the power over the police. If all of this is the case, then why is the federal govt. not take responsibility for their doing what they are supposed to do to secure life and property?
Again, what happened to lots of patrol vans, bullion trucks, and communication equipments donated to the Police by the Anambra state govt. and banks in the state? It is sad that politicians would do anything to gain power. Whatever is happening in the East is as a result of people thinking that they can hold their own people hostage in order to rule them. What a pity! Peter okoye 07.19.2009 02:46 The problem with our security is due to the fact that our police men are out to make their twenty naira from drivers to the extent that some make over twenty thousand naira daily. They are not there for the public but for their private desire. They have lost value in the face me nigeria s . They are not trusted by 90% of nigeria s. They can not secure them selves what more the public. They have no image in todays nigeria 07.19.2009 01:59 Governor of Anambra State should think of bringing back the GREATER BAKKASSI BOYS in the State of Anambra, enable him to cut down crime in the state. Capt. Ben 07.19.2009 00:46 Anambra is gradually becoming a failed state. I wonder if a sitting Governor is in Anambra. I dont know any other State Capital that robbers operate very freely and on daily basis. What is the duty of the Chief Security Officer of a State? What is the huge Security Votes for? Whoever is claiming to be the Governor of Anambra should be told that Anambra is still a territory of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the FGN reserves the right to ensure the safety of life and property of the citizens living in Anambra and will resort to any means to guarantee that safety even if it means declaring a state of emergency in Anambra. 07.18.2009 11:32 AS long as Nigerian Police continue to show lukeworm attitude in checkmating armed robbery incidents, these armed hoodlums will continue to have field day. Nigerian Police has always been a dissappointment, only interested in harrassing & intimidatind unarmed law abidding citizen & taking N20.00 toll from motorists. It is a shame the extent of insecurity in Nigeria. Someone should ask Femi Falana if President Obama of USA should come & solve that problem for Nigeria.
