President Olusegun Obasanjo has been advised to release
his programmes to states if he wanted to be re-elected
for a second term.
The advice was given by an environmentalist, Profe-ssor
Fela Ebisemiju, who made a return to hs former party the
Alliance for Democracy (AD).
He said Obasanjo had very good intentions for the country
but regretted that money earmarked for people oriented
projects ended in private pockets.
He said, progressive programmes of Obasanjo were being
handled in a conservative manner and advised that he should
hand over such programmes to the states for better implementation.
Ebisemiju said his sojourn in Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP) was a lesson and he had discovered that PDP had
no programmes and what the President was implementing
was progressive projects.
He debunked the claim by Dr. Olusegun Agagu that Apostle
Bamidele Olumilua's administration was responsible for
making Ondo state enjoy oil money saying efforts to make
the state an oil producing state started in 1980.
He claimed that he moved the motion at the state house
of Assembly on the oil wells crude oil production.
"If any government is to be given credit , therefore,
for making Ondo State to enjoy oil money it was Micheal
Adekunle Ajasin. And if any individual is to share in
this credit, it is Prof. Fela Ebisemiju".
He warned that Agagu Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship
candidate should not make the issue of oil "a campaign
issue" saying he was trying to reap where he did
not "sow." He predicted that PDP will break
up in 2007 and urged the progressive there to move to
AD and that AD would become the biggest party in Nigeria.
