From Chinedu Eze in Abakaliki

((( BACK

The Ebonyi State Govern-ment is to spend N1.8billion for the rehabilitation of all the primary and post-primary schools in the state.

Governor Sam Egwu announced the plan in a message at the launching of a N10 million school building renovation and fencing project of Government Secondary School, Owutu-Edda in Edda East Local Government .

Egwu represented by his special adviser on secondary education matters, Mr. Gilbert Ngele, said the state government would continued to place high priority on education.

He explained that his administration's emphasis on education underscored its importance for the emancipation of Ebonyi people from the shackles of poverty and marginalisation.

Egwu gave the assurance that government would render the necessary assistance to ensure the success of the rehabilitation project and urged the people to embrace the free education programme of the state government for proper education.

Former Deputy Governor of old Imo State, Chief Francis Orji, expressed satifaction with government's efforts at improving the educational standard of the state.
