The Ebonyi State Govern-ment is to spend N1.8billion
for the rehabilitation of all the primary and post-primary
schools in the state.
Governor Sam Egwu announced the plan in a message
at the launching of a N10 million school building
renovation and fencing project of Government Secondary
School, Owutu-Edda in Edda East Local Government
.
Egwu represented by his special adviser on secondary
education matters, Mr. Gilbert Ngele, said the state
government would continued to place high priority
on education.
He explained that his administration's emphasis
on education underscored its importance for the
emancipation of Ebonyi people from the shackles
of poverty and marginalisation.
Egwu gave the assurance that government would render
the necessary assistance to ensure the success of
the rehabilitation project and urged the people
to embrace the free education programme of the state
government for proper education.
Former Deputy Governor of old Imo State, Chief Francis
Orji, expressed satifaction with government's efforts
at improving the educational standard of the state.
