Chairman, Akwa Ibom Advisory Board on National
Identity card project, Obong Austin Ekong, has said
that any officer indicted on charges of extorting
money during the exercise would be prosecuted.
Obong Ekong however added that his committee had
received complaints and reports of extortion against
the staff but made no arrests so far.
The chairman who made the statement in Uyo while
interracting with newsmen also blamed the problem
encountered during the registration exercise on
the poor educational background of the adhoc officials.
Ekong said it was disheartening that some of the
officers could not read or even spell their names
even after undergoing a training workshop.
