A press statement issued by the Committee of Friends of Dr. Uzoh, organisers of the event, said the dignitaries which include the vice president, Atiku Abubakar, former president Ibrahim Babangida, Chief Emeka Offor, who will chair the occasion, and the governors of the five South-east states, had confirmed their desire to attend the ceremony. Igwe K.O.N Orizu III, Igwe Nnewi and his counterpart, Igwe Ezeokpoko, will be the royal fathers of the day. The organisers of the event explained that it is not strictly political but "a social event involving friends who have maintained a relationship spanning over 10 years," and that "Dr. Uzoh wants to use the opportunity to express gratitude to God for his many accomplishments at the age of 40." A citation by the organisers, records that aside from being a successful industrialist, Uzoh has many "local/international awards and appointments in the kitty at just 40 years of age, and is backed with an impeccable record in the area of philanthropy and social cum community service." As the NDP candidate for the state house, Uzoh, the statement said, "is now poised to face the bigger and more fulfilling challenge of mitigating the sufferings of the good people of Anambra State through good, transparent and accountable governance." Uzoh who had flagged off his campaign towards becoming the next governor of the state, it said, holds firmly to the belief that Anambra could be great again if given the right leadership. |
