Oshinkanlu Berates N/Assembly over ICPC Act By Josephine Obi
Chairman, Lagos State Chap-ter of Integrated Supporters of Obasanjo (ISO), Mr. Fe-yi Oshinkanlu, has described the amendment of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) Act 2000 by the Senate and House of Representatives as a "retrogressive and embarrassing development" capable of sending wrong signals to the outside world.
In a release made available to THISDAY, Oshuinkanlu wondered why the two legislative chambers should feel so threatened by the previous ICPC act if indeed they were 'Ssincere in their resolve to make the nation a better place than it was." "Are we now being told that corruption and other related offences should be entrenched in our constitution"? he asked. The ISO boss then called on Nigerians to uphold their fundamental rights by identifying those legislators who had promoted their personal agenda above the collective aspirations of the electorate and ensure that they are not returned to their seats. |
