Lawal faulted on Assassination Plot Story From Ayodeji Fashikun in Ilorin and Theresa Moses in Lagos
Police authorities in Kwara state yesterday denied the allegation that they have arrested five foreigners and a Nigerian, who the state governor, Alhaji Mo-hammed Lawal claimed planned to assassinate him on Tuesday.
Deputy Police Commissioner Ejiola Fagbiye told journalist in his office that "as far as we are concerned, no report has been made to the State Command or any of its units about the arrest of any foreigner on the allegation of a planned asssassination of the governor. According to Fagbiye, "such reports have not been made to us. we can't pick reports from the papers. These are processes in the force. If we've had such reports, we would have quickly briefed the commands hierarchy especially the Inspector General. Also, the Bukola Saraki Campaign Organisation (BSCO), has described as false the claim by the governor that his life was being threatened. In a statement by its Director of Media and Publicity Mr. Bode Ojomu, BSCO said "the statement credited to the governor confirmed the pitiable state of mind of a drowning traitor and an opportunist in power." He said instead of addressing the real issues, the governor was embarking on diversionary tactics at cajoling the people. |
