Every member of the team has an outstanding track record and is well as a leader in their respective field. Here is the award-winning team that will drive the THISDAY vision in South Africa.

Graeme King. Managing Director of THISDAY Newspapers:

King has enjoyed a long distinguished career. He is currently Managing Director of Independent Newspapers, Kwazulu-Natal and has held senior executive position with the Group for the past seventeen years. Notable appointments include Chairman of the Newspaper Association of South Africa and South African Director of the World Association of Newspapers (1998-2001).

John Matisonn:

A former William F. Benton Fellow at the University of Chicago, Matisonn is an outstanding journalist with many awards to his credit. He spent several years as a foreign correspondent for the Washington Post, The London Observer, National Public Radio (USA) and US Public Television. He also distinguished himself as Washington Bureau Chief for South African Morning Newspaper Group. John joins THISDAY Newspaper as Editorial Director.

Justice Malala:

Award winning journalist Malala’s appointment as London correspondent for the Johannesburg Sunday Times and founder of the paper’s New York Bureau, bear witness to his success. He has also won local acclaim for his work as Senior Political Writer for the Financial Mail and the Sunday Times. Justice is an accomplished political columnist and joins THISDAY Newspaper as Editor.

Kevin Davie:

Davie joins THISDAY as Business Editor. A former Nieman Fellow at Harvard University, he is a highly experienced journalist who has distinguished himself on many professional levels. Notable appointments include News Editor of Business Day and Editor of The Executive magazine while innovative achievements include publishing WOZA, the on-line news portal and co-founding Tradek, the on-line stockbroker.

Clive Sills:

Retail expert, Sills, has been appointed to oversee the revitalisation of THISDAY Media Stores. His impressive career has taken him all over the world and he has worked for many prestigious retail chains. Notable appointments include Chief Operating Officer WH Smith (Asia and Australia), Vice President and General Manager of a leading Canadian bookselling chain and manager of the airport-based retail chain, Divert Smith America.

Sidney Kley:

Kley joins THISDAY as Group Financial Director. He has extensive accounting, auditing, retail and banking experience and has held senior executive positions with leading South African banks and major listed retail companies.

Graeme Wilson:

Attorney Wilson joins THISDAY’s executive team as Group Legal Counsel. He holds a B.A, L.L.B and H.Dip. Tax from the University of Natal and has pursued a successful corporate career. Positions held include Legal Advisor for Accenture (African Region), Legal Advisor for Goldfields, South Africa and Legal Advisor for South African Breweries.

Nduka Obaigbena:

Founding Editor-in-Chief and Chairman is in South Africa to facilitate the globalisation of THISDAY.
